Book Review – Epic Love by Trudy Stiles

This story of friends turned to lovers and second chances was everything I didn’t know I needed. Now Heath is not an original member of Epic Fail and I had no real interest in his story. Not in a bad way, it just never crossed my mind. He was always just the guy that took Alex’s place in the band. (Read Dear Emily and Dear Tabitha for that story) EPIC LOVE changed all that in just the first few chapters. Heath and Noelle were friends since young children. Noelle moves in next door and friendship blooms from a love of wiffle ball, fireflies and fairies. As time moves on, friendship turns to young love and the trust and bond between Heath and Noelle grows. Sadly, everything is not as it seems in Noelle’s world. She lives in her own personal hell (courtesy of her evil stepmother) and has no one to share it […]

Review   “Jesus said a man should turn the other cheek…. but Jesus never had to go to high school in a small town.” The title of The Boy Who Killed Grant Parker is what initially brought my attention to this book. I really wanted to know if it was a literal or figurative phrase. I was pleasantly surprised with this story. It was a fast paced, well written story that centered on the daily high school life of Luke Grayson. It some ways the story reminded me of Mean Girls but, well you know with dudes and sans the burn book. “I didn’t aspire to be anything other than average.” Having moved from Washington D.C. to the po-dunk town of Ashland, Tennessee, Luke was the new kid from “the big city”. It was his first time living with his preacher father and his step mom/the Stepford wife Doris. Ashland was a conservative […]

Excerpt  Most people enjoy the sound of rain; they find it calming. I am not one of those people. For some reason, the rain has never given me peace. The sound of water, slow, steady and rhythmic, parades through my bedroom, making it pulsate, and I wake from a deep sleep, reaching my hands across the mattress—searching… What I’m searching for, I have no idea… but my hands pause when they feel emptiness—nothing. Just the coolness of the bedspread. Just the solace of an empty spot. I feel cold—inexplicably so, and when I turn over to face the window, I see a cloudy sky, scarlet curtains… And no rain. Not a single drop from the sky, at least as far as I can tell. The windows seem to be heavily fogged. But maybe not… I take a closer look. A thin film is outstretched over the poorly framed glass, making […]

Book Review and Epic Giveaway- Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton and Nina Bocci

Roman Crazy was funny, sweet, and just a little bit sexy. I adore second chance romances and this was a perfect little love story. Marcello was absolutely swoon worthy. That man had me ready to pack my bags and jump on a plane so I could have my own Roman adventure. “Choices were made, decisions were cemented, and paths were chosen. But no one said I had to stay running on that particular hamster wheel.” After Avery catches her husband cheating on her with his secretary, her marriage was over in her eyes.  Needing a much deserved break, she decides to head to Rome and visit her best friend Daisy. Being in Italy gave her the chance to relax and find herself. I loved Avery’s personality. She was spunky and fun. Her and Daisy’s friendship kept me laughing. Daisy gave her all the encouragement, sarcasm, and honest advice a girl would need. The one thing […]

Blog Tour and Review – Just Friends by Monica Murphy

Review WOW!! Just Friends was infuriating, drama filled, over the top, teen angst, and yet I could not get enough of it. I don’t think I have ever read a book so quickly before, but I could not put this book down. This story is 90210 (the 90s version) meets One Tree Hill.  Normally this isn’t the type of book that I would gravitate too but my goodness, Monica Murphy wrote an intriguing story. The story centers on Olivia and her best friends Dustin and Emily. After spending the summer away at her father’s house, Olivia has come back home and nothing feels the same. Before she left for the summer vacation, her and Dustin had been dancing around a new-found attraction for each other. Dustin wants a real relationship with her. Olivia loves the way he makes her feel, but she is adamant that she wants to remain “just friends”. […]
