Life has a way of shaping you into what it wants you to be, regardless of how much you fight it.
Brantley Prescott is damaged. Scarred by a past she can't forget. Hiding secrets she's terrified to share. Searching for a future she doesn't believe she'll ever find.
Myles Franco is alone. Burdened by mistakes he'll never live down. Fostering a deep resentment for the opposite sex. Unleashing his wrath on any girl who gets too close.
Brantley has worked behind the bar long enough to recognize Myles for what he is--a douchebag player with nothing on his mind but keeping a steady stream of girls flowing through his bed. With his messy dark hair, sapphire blue eyes, rock-solid body, and endless tattoos he's impossible to ignore. But that's exactly what she plans on doing.
After just one run-in with Brantley, Myles is even more determined to stick to the rules he lives by. She's mouthy, blunt, and doesn't back down--no matter how hard he pushes her. She could turn out be the one temptation that drags him down the path he's been trying to avoid. He won't let that happen.
Both are content living behind the solid walls they've built around themselves. Neither is prepared for what happens when their lives collide.
“Silence is the cruelest lie”
Caught Up In You, was a truly fantastic novel. I’ve been in a bit of book funk lately and this was exactly the kind of story I needed right now. It had the perfect mix of humor, sexual tension, angst, and emotional impact that kept me interested from beginning to end.
Brantley and Myles first meet when she becomes Myles’ upstairs neighbor. From the beginning they don’t get along and they spend most of their time bickering with each other. I loved seeing how they interacted with each other. Even though they would fight and bicker, you could sense their underlying attraction for each other. They both hadn’t been in a relationship in years but they found a comfort within one another.
They each have their own emotional baggage. Brantley’s left with both physical and emotional scars. She’s learned to be careful about who she trusts and to never owe anyone. After his bad decisions and wild ways nearly cost his everything, Myles has kept away from most relationships while he’s trying to build back his life.
“Maybe Myles had secrets too. Maybe he was just as damaged as I was.”
I really enjoyed both these characters. Brantley was confident, hard working, and I loved her sarcasm and wit. Myles was the perfect amount of asshole. He was smart, gorgeous, tattooed, and pierced. He had this certain mysterious quality about it him and it made you want to get know him more. He’s kept away from women for the last two years but there was something about Brantley that he just can’t help but being drawn too.
“Every time I think I’ve got you figured out you prove me wrong.”
I can’t even describe how much I enjoyed and loved this book. This wasn’t a perfect romance. Their relationship took time to build up. You could feel the sexual tension and the chemistry between two. They also opened to one another. My heart hurt to hear the things Brantley had been through. I wanted them to be together . There was so much miscommunication that happened between the two and they wound up hurting each other because of it. I wanted to shake them both because of it and I really wondered if they would ever get it right.
This story was very realistic. It wasn’t perfect, Brantley and Myles were not perfect and I loved them all the more for it. I was anxious to see how the story would end. I could relate to the characters and I enjoyed all the side characters. Colee Firman did a wonderful job with this story. This was the first book of hers I read and I can not wait to read more.
