College drop-out, Roxy Cumberland, moved to New York with dreams of becoming an actress, but her dwindling bank account is quickly putting the kibosh on that fantasy. To make some quick cash, she signs up to perform singing telegrams. Her first customer is a gorgeous, cocky Manhattan trust-funder if she ever laid eyes on one. And what could be more humiliating than singing an ode to his junk, courtesy of his last one night stand? Maybe the fact that she's dressed in a giant, pink bunny costume...
After a night out to celebrate winning his last case, lawyer Louis McNally II isn't prepared for the pounding in his head or the rabbit serenading him from the front door. But the sassy wit and sexy voice of the girl behind the mask intrigues him, and one look at her stunning face—followed by a mind-blowing kiss against his doorjamb—leaves Louis wanting more.
Roxy doesn't need a spoiled rich boy who's had everything in life handed to him on a Tiffany platter. But there's more to Louis than his sexy surface and he's determined to make Roxy see it...even if it means chasing her all over NYC.
Roxy Cumberland is the struggling actress. Down on her luck and just looking for that one big break. Louis McNally is the successful lawyer and womanizer. He is not looking for the one but then again…isn’t that when they show up.
Roxy and Louis meet in an unconventional way. His latest one night stand has sent him a singing telegram. Lucky for him, Roxy is the bunny dressed messenger. Side Note: Through this entire book…when this scenes happens or it is brought up I cannot help picture this scene from Beaches. I am movie junkie so I needed to share. I have no idea if this where the idea came from but I loved it no matter what. Louis and Roxy share one kiss that day that changes all for both of them. Louis can’t forget about the snarky, sexy bunny that showed up at his door and embarks on a mission to find her.
I love Tessa Bailey. I really do and normally I just eat up her books. This one fell just a little short for me. It still had that Tessa funny, snarky banter and fantastic writing. It still had the awesome sex scenes that only Tessa can write. I think where it fell short for me was Roxy. Roxy has a wall up and I mean this wall is serious. She is her own worst enemy. When the book starts she has no friends and no place to live. She is the epitome of down and out struggling actress. Louis is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but he is not horrible either. Sometimes she was just too tough on him. I think that took away from the story for me. Plus she fights against him and her feelings until late in the book and by 75% I was like “Seriously home girl! Just lighten up. Let the man treat you nice.”
I did love that Roxy was from Jersey. It redeemed her a lot in my Jersey Girl heart even if I wanted to shake her through some of it. Louis and Roxy were a great couple. They were hot together and their banter was so funny. Thier friends were a complete plus for me. I was interested in their story the whole way through and I wanted them to be happy in the end. I could have lived with a bit more from the ending, but it was very nice. I am so excited for Need Me. Honey and Ben’s story makes me very happy.
