THE STORY YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW...

When Kyle Calloway died, he took a part of Nell with him. She wasn’t the only one left to pick up the pieces, however; Kyle’s death left a gaping hole in the hearts and lives of his parents and his older brother Colton, and ultimately broke the will of the girl he loved.

THE STORY YOU NEVER IMAGINED...

Becca de Rosa is Nell’s best friend. When Kyle died, Nell was so devastated that no one could reach her, not even her best friend Becca. As she tries to help Nell through her grief, Becca’s own life is thrust into turmoil, and everything she knows is changed.

Jason Dorsey asked Nell out the week after her sixteenth birthday, but that date never happened. Instead, he ended up going out with Nell’s best friend, Becca. He had no way of knowing, then, how that one date would send him on a life-long journey with Becca. He had no way of knowing the tragedies and triumphs he would experience, or that in Becca, he might find the love of a lifetime.

THE HEARTACHE YOU’LL NEVER FORGET...

I am one the many that fell madly in love with Jasinda Wilder’s Falling into You. I am also one the crazies that was waiting like an impatient toddler for Falling into Us to be released. I fell in love Nell and Colt and as much as I knew I would love Falling into Us, I truly did not think it could beat my love for them. Boy, did I eat my words…hehe. I love Becca and Jason more but for such different reasons.

Falling into Us starts basically at the same place the first book did but from a different POV. We find out that Jason has had a crush on Nell for a long time and his friends are tired of hearing him pine for her. So they do what all boys do…they bet him to ask her out. He asks, she says yes but later cancels on him because of Kyle. We all know what happens with Nell and Kyle but now you get to see the other side of the phone call that starts it all for both couples. Taking Nell’s suggestion, Jason decides to take Becca out instead and it ends of being the best decision ever made.

“I knew Nell the best, since I’d spent most of my life daydreaming about her like a little puppy, but Becca was just as hot in a different way. She was shorter and curvier than Nell, and Becca had long curly black hair, so tightly curled that it was a thick mass of springy ringlets, whereas Nell’s hair was a perfect shade of strawberry blonde. Becca’s skin was the color of dark caramel, where Nell’s was like ivory, white and pale. Nell was outgoing and cheerful, whereas Becca was quiet and painfully shy, but brilliantly smart.”

I loved to flow of this story. I loved the slow but steady progression of these two people from kids to adults. Neither have it easy at home though both for much different reasons. Becca has a speech impediment of stuttering. This plays a big part in their story since her emotions dictate her speech. You will relive many of the pivotal scenes from Falling into You through Becca’s eyes. Becca being Nell’s best friend, you will see how Nell’s coping of Kyle’s death  affected those around her. You will also get see her have her own downward spiral after a very traumatic event. I must give Ms. Wilder some serious props for this. This portion of the book was written beautifully to me. It was heartbreaking to read on so many levels but the way Jason handles Becca was just sweet and beautiful.
There is no angsty drama is this book. No cheating and no lies. I must say I really appreciated that for once. Jason and Becca didn’t need that and it would have never fit their story. They handled many situations in a more adult fashion given their age but for them it worked. They were never your typical teenagers but still had normal teenage responses and feelings.

“Usually I felt a lot older than my sixteen years, and I knew Becca felt the same way. But in that moment, wondering about how to handle a physical relationship with Becca, I suddenly felt very young and immature indeed.”

The lack of angst does not mean lack of steam….hehe.  There are some very hot sex scenes done only as Jasinda can do them and they do not disappoint. My Kindle sizzled more times then I care to admit 🙂

“He reached between my legs to trace a finger through my damp folds, dipping his middle finger into me, sliding up to circle my clit. “I lied,” he whispered, taking his erection in his hand and guiding himself to my entrance. “You win.”

“Don’t you forget it,” I said, and then lost capacity for speech as he slid slowly into me, burying himself deep and deeper, until his hips were flush against my ass.”

Lastly, you get a continuation of the story. You see past where Nell and Colt’s story ended in Falling into You. You will see past Becca and Jason’s story. You will get a beautiful happily ever after on all accounts. In the end….I laughed, I cried and I felt complete. She ended the story the way it needed to be ended. I love when author gives you an ending that says “I’m good. They got where I needed them to be and I can move on happy. I have closure.”

I do not give out 5 stars easily for books. Five star books have that special something and this book had it in three-fold to me. I would give it 10 stars if possible. There is only one question I have and maybe she can answer on her Facebook page or something. This does not impact the main story in any way, just a simple scratching my head moment: Where are Kate and the baby?
