A new love will test the boundaries of passion between a privileged boy next door and the tattooed, blue-haired girl who helps him embrace his wild side...

Nate has developed quite a playboy reputation around campus. It's not that he doesn't respect or trust women; he doesn't trust himself. The men in Nate’s family are prone to abusive behavior—a dirty secret that Nate’s been running from his entire life—so Nate doesn't do relationships. But he can’t help himself around one girl…

Jessie is strong, independent, and works at a tattoo parlor. Nate can’t resist getting close to her, even if it’s strictly a friendship. But it doesn't take long for Nate to admit that what he wants with Jessie is more than just friendly.

With Jessie, he can be himself and explore what he’s always felt was a terrifying darkness inside him. Even when Nate begins to crave her in a way that both shocks and horrifies him, Jessie still wants to know every part of him. Testing their boundaries together will take a trust that could render them inseparable… or tear them apart.

“We all have darkness and brightness inside of us. You won’t know exactly what you’re made of until you embrace all of it….”

I don’t know how she does it each time, but Christina Lee always manages to write these amazing set characters that you easily draw you in and get you wrapped up into their lives. Nate and Jessie, are the definition of opposites attract but they seem to fit together perfectly. Their story was grittier and sexier, than the previous books in the series, but it still held the same emotional impact.

Nate and Jessie were introduced in the previous books but you truly don’t know much about them until now. The two shared a casual friendship, and even though the both found each other attractive, it wasn’t something either of them would have ever acted on. When Nate helps Jessie with a school project, the two get stuck together for a weekend. In that one weekend, things between them change and their attraction grows.

“It felt almost like she could see right inside of me. See all of my secrets. All of the ways I was keeping myself locked in a cage. It was like she was offering me the key to let myself out.”

Nate was someone who struggled with himself. On one side he had a rich, privileged, upbringing but his family life held dark secrets of anger and abuse at the hands of his father. Nate had kinkier sexual desires but he feared those desires would cause him to hurt a girlfriend so he tried to not go give into those urges. He never wanted to become his father so he kept himself detached from most women and relationships.

“I wanted to know him even more. Past the attraction, past the flutters in my stomach,  I wanted to ask him what troubled him and then sooth any broken parts inside him.”

Jessie was his complete opposite. She was independent, tattooed, fun-loving and struggling student. She didn’t grow up with much but her parents gave her the one priceless gift…love and encouragement. Even though she had never been attracted to the clean cut type like Nate, there was a slow building attraction that both of them couldn’t deny. It was an intense, visceral sexual chemistry. The sex scenes between these two were AMAZING. It was grittier, kinkier, more sensual, and they balanced each other well.

This book seemed to start off a bit slower than the previous books, but it didn’t take long for it to pick up the pace. I really enjoyed watching their friendship and relationship develop.  Nate had a lot of personal demons to deal with. I honestly felt so much sympathy for his struggle. He never felt comfortable enough to share his fears with anyone until Jessie came along. This story was a fantastic read. Christina Lee, knows how to write an amazing New Adult read. It was fast paced, steamy, and showed an amazing amount of growth. <3 <3
