From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Ruth Cardello comes the steamy debut to the Lone Star Burn series.
Would-be writer Sarah Dery has just turned twenty-five and feels like her life is on hold. She’s done squat with her English degree and is just killing time working for her parents. So, when the opportunity to spend the summer working on a ranch in Texas comes her way, she jumps at the chance—figuring it might be just the jolt she needs to get her creative juices flowing.
Tony Carlton is a handsome and reclusive horse trainer with a tortured past and an eye for trouble, this time in the form of a naked blonde stranger he finds in his shower.
The wrong turn that led Sarah into the arms of this sexy, brooding cowboy turns out to be just what she needed to find her steamy inner voice, but will their connection be enough to break down Tony’s defenses?
Revised Edition: Previously published as Gentling the Cowboy, part of the Texan Nights series, this edition of Taken, Not Spurred includes editorial revisions.
Tony is hiding. Hiding from himself, hiding from others and hiding from the tabloids. Things seem to be working with that until blonde, sweet and somewhat naive Sarah crash lands into not only his farm but his life. He has no idea what to do with her when he first meets her but what he does know is that he is definitely attracted to her. Sarah finds out that her friend is a douche and her plans get a wrench in them. She decides to pack up and head back to Boston but Tony sees an opportunity to work her out his system. Mostly while she is underneath him…hehe. He offers for her to stay and she does mostly for the new experience. Luckily, life doesn’t always go according to your plan. Will Tony and Sarah find the forgiveness they desperately need in each other?
I really enjoyed this story and was my first Ruth Cardello book. I love me a hot and broody cowboy and Sarah really is quite lovable character. The writing style took me some getting used to but once I got into the swing of things all went well. You will fall in love with Sarah and Tony. It is kinda impossible not too but there is some baggage attached to both of them that makes their relationship very difficult in the beginning. I sincerely loved the secondary characters as much as the main and do hope Ruth has stories in mind for them also. I really want to see this series continue. A definite must read for anyone who loves themselves a good alpha male, hot, sexy cowboy story like myself.
