Love is selfish...
My name is Blaire.
I'm the bad girl.
The other woman.
The one who never gets the guy in the end.
I'm the gold digger.
The one no one roots for.
The one you love to hate.
I hate myself too...
Everyone has a story. Are you ready for mine?
BLAIRE, BLAIRE, BLAIRE, I love her, I want to dislike her, but damn it it’s hard not to admire her hustle and tenacity. I loved Easy Virtue and it’s on sale run and go get it!!! Book Two: Sweetest Venom will be out April 3. Check out the teasers below, oh and I included my review again!!
There is no doubt that Mia Asher is a phenomenal author. Her words seem to have the power to push you past your comfort levels and stir up your emotions. Her characters aren’t necessarily lovable, sometimes they aren’t even likable, but they are real, flawed, and raw.
I wasn’t born a monster, though my choices certainly have made me one. But I can’t stop myself. I can’t. Causing pain to others when I’m suffering soothes me.
Blaire is a broken girl. Growing up, she lacked the love and affection that she needed to thrive. She was bullied and taunted at school and her parents seemed to care more about their own problems than they did about Blaire. She vowed to herself that no one would get to her hurt again.
“Love has the ability to of breaking the unbreakable.”
Blaire is beautiful and she uses her body to get the things she craves: money, sex, and power. Blaire comes off cold, jaded, and she doesn’t seem to care about much. Yet behind her façade, I think she had a bit of vulnerability. She didn’t want love; she told herself she didn’t need it but then she met someone that made her think otherwise.
Ronan throws her off her game. He wasn’t like the other guys she goes after. He didn’t have tons of money, fancy watches, and cars. Yet despite that fact, there is something about him that Blaire is drawn to. Ronan, was sweet, honest, and he wanted Blaire just as she was. He cared about her immensely and he shows her that. Blaire isn’t used to that. He makes her feel too much and that scares her.
Sigh, Lawrence. He’s the complete opposite of Ronan. He’s filthy rich and can provide Blaire with all the things she desires. He sees Blaire for who she is and he doesn’t judge her, he just wants her. There was a mysterious quality to him. I wasn’t sure how I felt about him but I immediately wanted to know more.
“You puzzle me, Blaire. Who are you? What are you?
There were many layers to this story! Ultimately Blaire has to decide, can she push past her fear or does she go back to what she knows? At times I had mixed feelings about Blaire. Part of me wanted to hug and protect her and the other part wanted to shake her. I didn’t agree with some of her decisions but I understood her. I absolutely loved Ronan and his character. He made my heart melt. I was a bit hesitant about Lawrence but I find him intriguing. I want to know more.
This story was sexy and intense. Mia did amazing job with this book. It held my attention from beginning to end. The ending left me going “whoa”. I enjoyed it and it left me wanting more. I’m so excited and I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.
