The first in an emotion-fueled, New Adult series from the #1 bestselling author of the Thoughtless novels!
Too fast, too furious—and way too hot to handle…
Mackenzie Cox has a lot to prove. Daughter of a racing legend, she is eager to show the world that she has inherited her father's talent in the male-dominated sport of professional motorcycle racing. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team's newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Plucked from the world of illegal street racing, Hayden immediately gets under Kenzie's skin. His insinuations that Kenzie is a spoiled princess who was handed her career fuels her desire to win, and much to her surprise, Kenzie soon learns she performs better when she's racing against Hayden.
As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense—and strictly forbidden—attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie always does her best to play by the rules, but when her team slips into a financial crisis, she has no choice but to turn to Hayden for help. The tension simmers during their secret, late-night rendezvous, but Kenzie has too much to lose to give in to her desires. Especially when she begins to doubt that Hayden has completely left his street life behind...
I have been a S.C Stephens fan for a long time but I am also one of the few that has not read her Thoughtless series nor do I want too. I know…I know. My favorite book of hers is and always will be Collision Course. It hits you right in the feels.
Kenzie and Hayden’s relationship has a very Romeo and Juliet-esque. Lovers kept apart because of the hatred of others.
Mackenzie Cox is motorcycle racer. She has grown up with racing in her blood unfortunately her father’s racing team has fallen on hard times and this year is make or break it for Cox Racing.
Hayden Hayes is the hot illegal street racer looking to put his checkered past behind him. Though the people in his old world are not making that very easy. After a chance meeting the night before things become rough for Kenzie and Hayden when he joins the rival team of Benneti Racing.
“I was instantly captivated, and I hated that I was. This guy was neck-deep in a world that twisted my stomach, a world that spat in the face of my sport. My career.”
Things are not easy for either one of them with the competing racing teams being just the tip of the iceberg. Kenzie is a girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders. A dad that never seems satisfied no matter how hard she tries, sisters who neither understand or support her and racing dream/career that is slipping through her fingers. Hayden is the bad boy trying to make a life for himself. New to this world and the hatred between Cox and Benneti, he just wants to race and win but after going to know her—taste her…he wants Kenzie too.
Thier chemistry is electric and hot. It also helps that apart Kenzie and Hayden are good but when they work together on the track…they are unstoppable.
Race me or chase me.
I really think this story was well written and thought out. I does start off somewhat slow but picked up midway through. Kenzie I think was hard to understand for some, she could seem to be almost too bitchy at times but I feel that was her protection. Her way of having control in a world she had none. I really do wish there would have been a few chapters from Hayden’s POV. I loved him so and I wanted to be in his mind every once and a while but considering where one of part of the storyline ended I could see how that probably would not have worked. Hopefully book 2 will fix that and we can get in Hayden’s head.
I am very excited to see where the next book takes us. Sh*t hit the fan by the end of FURIOUS RUSH so stuff will be getting good.
FURIOUS RUSH is a hot and sexy look into the word of motorcycle racing, family, friendship and love.
Blog Tour Q&A
Q: So why choose to write about motorcycle racers specifically?
A: I wanted a heart-of-gold bad boy who did something sexy for a living. Kellan already owned the rock star market, so I started looking around for other avenues for Hayden. My brother had just purchased a shiny, red street bike, and when I saw it, I couldn’t help but notice that the bike was super-sexy. I knew right then and there that bikes were going to be Hayden’s “thing.”
Q: Would you ever write a sports romance about football, baseball, etc.?
A: I think professional football could be interesting. The dramas between the wives, the egos of the players, and of course, the forbidden romance with the cheerleader… Sounds like fun!
Q: Was it challenging to write about something completely new after spending so much time with the characters in the Thoughtless series?
A: Yes and no. It was very freeing to be able to write new characters with no set-in-stone back stories, no previous timelines fixing them to a certain path. What I did find challenging however, was the endless possibilities. So many options can be overwhelming, and it took some time to narrow the scope into something more manageable.
Q: What is one book you are dying to read but haven’t gotten the time to do so yet?
A: Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. It’s literally sitting on my nightstand right now, but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. I’ve only heard good things about this entire series, and I can’t wait to start it.
