It seems the things worth keeping are often the hardest to hold...
I had two things in life that mattered. My mother and my music.
Mama was taken from me too soon, and now music is all I have left. It’s the thing that’s pushed me right out of backwoods Georgia into Los Angeles, where the line between fantasy and reality shimmers and blurs. I’m finally making my way, making my mark. I can’t afford to fall for one of music's brightest stars. Not now. Music is all I have left, and I’m holding on tight with both hands. I won’t let go, not even for Rhyson Gray.
I had one thing in my life that mattered – music. The only constant, it’s taken me to heights most people only dream about; a gift dropped in my lap at birth. I thought it was enough. I thought it was everything until I met Kai. Now she’s all I think about, like a song I can't get out of my head. If I have to chase her, if I have to give up everything - I will. And once she's mine, I won't let go.
Happy Holidays! I wanted to offer something special to those who have read MY SOUL TO KEEP. A full deleted chapter from the book. More Rhys + Kai!

I absolutely loved My Soul To Keep and I don’t know how haven’t read Kennedy Ryan before this but she is definitely on my radar now. I’m trying not gush but I really want everyone to read this book!
I loved Kai and Rhys’ story. I loved watching them fall in love, I loved their friendship and the banter between them. There was so much about the story that just makes your heart go pitter patter because these two were so genuine and they really had a true connection.
Kai and Rhys are both in the entertainment industry but on different levels. Rhys is a child prodigy and turned rock star and Kai is a very talented up and coming singer and dancer.
Kai is new to L.A. She had to put her career on hold after the death of her mother six months ago. She really just wants to focus on her career as much as possible. She works hard to pay her bills and practice her talent. She watched her mother suffer after her father left and it left her mistrusting of men. Rhys has his own personal issues and doesn’t allow himself to become close to many people but he is simply drawn to Kai. She makes it clear that she just wants to be friends with Rhyson but there is something that just clicks between them.
It’s apparent that Rhys wants more but he respects her wishes for a while. They end up sharing so much with each other and they truly become friends. Yet, the smoldering chemistry between them continues to grow. Rhys finally wears her down by gaining her trust and they are simply amazing together.
There’s not a lot of drama in this book. It’s just two people really trying to work out their friendship, relationship, and careers while in the public eye. They each have their own personal hang ups and issues that they both have to deal with individually. Rhys really wants to protect Kai from all the things that he went through in the industry but Kai is very determined that she wants to do things on her own. She doesn’t want others to think that her career and potential success is connected to Rhys’ influence.
This story had a good pace and everything slowly comes together. Kennedy Ryan wrote it in such a fantastic way because you really cared about the characters and you truly wanted to see them happy and together. There was a lot of feeling and emotion throughout the story. The characters were diverse and different and I just love that about this book.
This was a refreshing new adult novel and I am excited for the next book Down In Soul, that releases in March (yes there is a bit of cliffhanger) but I’m dying to see how things will work things out and how the characters will grow.
Ps. Kennedy if you read this March is my birthday month (the 1st is my b-day) so I’m hoping maybe, it could be released on my birthday….just saying (totally kidding…maybe…lol) 😉
And, I’m unleashing my rambling and gushing to the world. This was my raw review after finishing……
