The newest, highly anticipated novel from beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author, Colleen Hoover.
Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us; is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.
FIVE STARS ALL AROUND
OMG! This is my first Colleen review. I have read so many of her books but never reviewed them on the blog but I am kinda happy that this the book I decided to start with. It has become one of my unexpected favorites.
So, I didn’t read the synopsis. Now for the ones that have read my reviews before this is actually common of me for authors I have read and enjoyed before. It started out as mistake but now its kinda become my own personal game with myself. I’m nuts…don’t worry about me.
It Ends With Us is the book I didn’t see coming but also didn’t know I needed.
It was more than a romance in the traditional sense. There was a love story there and it did not come without its flaws but it was also so much more than that. It was about the heroine’s growth in more than just love.
“All humans make mistakes. What determines a person’s character aren’t the mistakes we make. It’s how we take those mistakes and turn them into lessons rather than excuses.”
That right there is story if life, something even me at 33 yrs old I must learns every single day.
Colleen shared that this was her most personal book to date and you felt that with every page turn. You become invested in Lily’s story and journey from the start and its hard to not keep going until you finish. The Slammed series will forever be one of my favorites for so many reasons, most being because it came from Colleen but It Ends With Us is a close second and has become the book that I “met Colleen”. I truly think she gave a small piece of herself to readers in this book and I will forever cherish the gift she shared.
“There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things.”
It Ends With Us, was completely different from what I was anticipating. Then again I’m not even sure I read the synopsis to be honest. I’m glad I went it blindly because I had no expectations and inclinations of what was to come. Yes this story was sweet, it was quirky and sexy, but most of all, it was boldly different. This was an emotionally charged novel. It felt so honest and it made me question some preconceived notions I had about love and relationships.
“Fifteen seconds. That’s all it takes to completely change everything about a person.”
This book reminds me of why I first fell in love with Colleen’s writing. Her same wit and humor is there but the conflict and character depth are on a completely different level. This story was powerful. The characters were dynamic and their relationships and affection for one another was easily felt. I really loved the build up of the story. It was little by little and bit by bit, but each layer of this story added to its depth and intensity.
“Maybe love isn’t something that comes full circle. It just ebbs and flows, in and out, just like the people in our lives.”
I’m truly impressed. There is so much I want to say about this novel but there is so much that I CAN NOT say. I don’t want to
ruin any aspect of this novel. I loved it, I hated it, and it made me cry because I felt for the characters more than I wanted too. I was angry that I even felt conflicting emotions about certain characters but to me that speaks of Colleen’s writing. She made me care about a character that I didn’t always like. She made me want to root for them even when I wanted to hate them.
This novel is up there with Slammed/ Hopeless, and November 9. I applaud Ms. Hoover for stepping out of the box. She wrote this story so well. I devoured this book and I just know this book will stick with me long after my initial read.
