In this powerfully emotional debut New Adult novel, Avery has just met her hot upstairs neighbor. He's irresistible. Tattooed. And a virgin.
Nursing student Avery Michaels wants nothing to do with dating--she's perfectly happy single. Privy to too many of her mother's bad decisions and even worse taste in boyfriends, all Avery can handle is a string of uncomplicated hookups whenever the mood strikes. When she meets smoking hot tattoo artist Bennett, she wants him--for just one night. But he won't accept a no-strings-attached arrangement. He lives by a straight-laced code of values based on his own troubled upbringing. Bennett sees something special in Avery and he wants more from her. Way more. As Avery wrestles with her emotions for Bennett, danger and tragedy force them to open up to each other. And Avery must face the terrifying realization that she wants more from him, too. So she needs to make a choice--let Bennett go or finally let him in.
Five Words to describe this book: Engaging. Sexy. Sensual. Beautiful. Emotional. I absolutely loved this book. All Of You was a bit different than your normal romance. The typical roles were reversed. Avery was the girl that didn’t do relationships and slept around and Bennett was this hot, sweet, tattooed artist, and that happened to be a virgin. Yup, a guy virgin. That fact alone had me so intrigued by this story.
I really enjoyed Avery’s character. She wasn’t your typical girl. She was fiercely independent, tough, and utterly protective of her younger brother Adam. She had witnessed her mother’s bad decisions when it came to relationships and she didn’t want that for herself. An incident in her past changed her in a lot of ways. It made her distrusting of most men. She avoided relationships because she didn’t want to leave herself vulnerable to anyone. Avery learned to keep most of her feelings and emotions hidden.
“Love was only a ridiculous fairy tale that was never satisfying, warm, or safe.”
Avery and Bennett meet a college party and she’s immediately attracted to him. She’s used to guys perusing her but it throws her off when he doesn’t seem interested. When they meet again it turns out Bennett is her new neighbor. Things between them are casual until an incident brings them closer together. She didn’t want to seem weak but Bennett truly helped her when she needed it. He was sweet, kind, and protective.
“It was so difficult to completely relinquish control. Letting go for Bennett would mean something different now. Because after last night, we’d become something different. Something real.”
Bennett was such an amazing character. He was sweet and protective but most of all he made Avery comfortable with him. He had his reason for waiting to have sex and I completely respected them. The thing that I love most about this book and the other books in the series is that Ms. Lee knows how to build up the chemistry between her characters. It’s not rushed, it’s not forced, and it just flows naturally. They had amazing sexual tension and there was some very steamy moments. I could feel the characters emotions and feelings and I couldn’t help but get wrapped up in their relationship.
“He made me feel safe and protected. Being with him hadn’t made me disappear or became anything less. Maybe we could fold into each other’s lives without compromising who we were.”
From beginning to end I truly enjoyed this book. The characters were easy to relate to and the story was both sexy and sweet. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. A definite 4.5 stars
