Into The Blue Review
Love was easy; trust was the hard part.
Into The Blue is a novel that took my by surprise. I admit, when I first started this book, I was being such a hater. I don’t even know why. Maybe I wasn’t feeling the cover or maybe I was reading while hangry. Whatever the reason, I misjudged this book and I was wrong. Not only did I end of loving this story but once I was done I wanted to read it all over again.
This one of those second chance love stories that I crave. The one that makes you see why the characters fell in love with each other, how it all fell apart, and then makes you ache for them to get back together. The story centered on Becca Madison and Eric Jensen. After being apart for over 10 years, they run into each other at a bar while Eric is in town visiting with friends. Eric and Becca first met when they were 17 years old and they were together for 5 years. Things had seemingly been good between them, but their lives were beginning to go down different paths. Becca always knew she wanted to be a lawyer and that she wanted to build her career in their hometown in South Carolina. Eric wavered on what he wanted to do but he ultimately decided to join the military. It was seemingly too much on him and their relationship and he eventually broke things off.
“I knew better than anyone that sometimes you couldn’t see your path until you were already so far down it that there was no way back.”
Becca never understood the real reason that their relationship ended and it made her bitter and angry. I didn’t like how Eric broke things off, View Spoiler »I mean really, who breaks up with their girlfriend/fiancée of 5 years via a Dear Jane letter?! That was worse then when Berger gave Carrie that post-it note. « Hide Spoiler but in the end I understood his reasoning. Being young and in love isn’t easy but trying to find yourself in the midst of that, is even harder. Initially I wasn’t that sympathetic to Becca’s heartbreak. Yes, she was rightfully angry but her stubbornness was infuriating at times.
Even though ten years had passed, it was easy to see that the love between Eric and Becca was still there. I knew it wouldn’t be easy to get past the pain and heartbreak that Eric had caused. There was a lot of trust that would need to be rebuilt. I loved watching this story unfold and it was well writing, sexy, sweet, and engaging.
I’m excited to read the rest of this series. I fell for the entire set of characters, Noah, Jordan, Easy, and Dani, I loved them all. I need to go back and read book one, Fly With Me, and I’m absolutely dying to get my hands on the final book, Easy’s book, On Broken Wings.
