Emily Donovan didn't know love, she didn't know gentle and her future wasn't hers to own. Because HE owned her. There is only so much one soul can take before it is broken beyond repair and she had reached that milestone long ago.

Braiden Montgomery had secrets, secrets that would see a special place in hell reserved just for him. He was trying to make amends, trying to find his own form of redemption when a waif of a girl with jet black hair and pale blue eyes seized his heart.

Emily's soul had been tortured by men like Braiden, so trusting the dark haired Dom would be one of the most difficult things she would ever do. For a man with skills like Braiden, keeping 'Em' safe would be a piece of cake. Bringing her frozen heart back to life might just prove impossible though.

Broken, completely broken. That is how we meet Emily Donovan. She is just a shell of a woman. For the past eight years she has been a slave to a horrible man, Jonas Levier. Then her knight in shining armor arrives to save her. Braiden is the knight in shining armor, however he does not think his armor is all that shiny. He has been obsessed with finding Emily for two years.  Once he finds her, he does not want to let her go. However, at a pivotal point in the book, he has too. Braiden leaving Emily just about kills him, however he knows that he has to leave so that she can learn to be independent.

“Leaving you like I did was the hardest thing I have ever had to do, Em, and I’ve done some pretty difficult things in my life.  I had to try and make you safe.  I had to try and find him.”

“And I needed you to see you didn’t need a man like me, you needed to be free.  You’re doing well,m and your stronger now.”

Did I want to smack Braiden upside the head when he left her, YES, but I understood. Emily was able to become a stronger woman because he left her.

“You don’t know me.  You didn’t even stay and attempt to get to know me.  Nobody gets it because I’m theone who went through it.  The doctors, the shirnks, my sister, your team, then can all nod their heads and pretend to know me, they watch me with eyes full of pity, but none of them will evern understand what I went through, or what I need.  Fuck you, Braiden, fuck the doctors and fuck everyone else.  I will pay you back every cent you spent on me with interest, and you can walk the fuck away and get on with your life.”

Now, I was standing up and cheering Emily at this scene in the book. The girl had grown a “backbone  of steel”. This was the moment in the book that you knew she was going to be okay in the longterm.

This book is not for the faint hearted.  There are strong sexual scenes within the book. This is part of the Mercy’s Angels series, but can also be read as a stand alone. I am interested in reading the other books in this series and am looking forward to future books by Ms. Dallas.

About Kirsty Dallas

I’m just a little Aussie girl with a big imagination, so much to write and so little time to do it. When I’m not writing (or reading) I am kept smiling and sane (for the most part) by my 5 year old daughter. She is the light in my world. I have a wonderfully supportive family who keep me completely grounded. Trust me, they will never let any success go to my head!! And I love them for it. I enjoy ice cold ciders, barbecues, music and art. I hate cooking, in fact I think I have major kitchen allergies. My feet rarely grace anything other than flip-flops and even in the middle of a hot Aussie summer, I love my jeans!!! To sum me up in a few words (and you know how hard just a few words is for an author) ~ easy going, laid back, dreamy and passionate.

I hope you all love reading my novels as much as I love writing them.
