Greg Cage was born to protect. While growing up, he was his mother and sister’s shield against the world… until he failed. For the last decade, he has carried that guilt and need for vengeance around… until it was stripped from him. Now, with his best friend getting married and no longer needing his protection, he is even more lost, completely adrift, and desperate for some control. All he has ever known was how to protect: his family, his friends, and his country. Can he go against everything he has ever known, and give up that control?
Melissa Larson will never let anyone hold the reins in her life. She has been the rock in her family for more years than she can remember, and the fight to keep them together is her main priority right now. She has always been fiercely independent and proud. The last thing she will ever do is ask for someone else’s help. But when that choice is out of her control, forcing her to rely on others to save her and her family, and pick up the pieces that are left, will she be able to let someone else be her strength?
The second Greg locks eyes with Meli, he knows that she is someone he needs. Someone he craves. Meli knew the second she met Greg that he would be nothing but trouble and heartache. Her life takes an unexpected turn, and that bitch Fate is back to wreak more havoc on another member of the Corps family.
All hell breaks loose, leaving Greg no choice but to call in a favor. He hooks back up with his old friend Braxxon Breaker from the Breakneck MC. Together, they make sure that nothing threatens anyone Greg loves again.
CAGE is a complete story with a HEA.
“..I’m your Beast, and baby…ever Beauty needs a Beast.”
I think I’m in love with Greg Cage! This was my first book in the Corps Security series that I’ve read and now I’m hooked. Cage was sexy and fun but it also had some drama and some very sweet moments.
Greg Cage was a pure alpha. He exuded sexiness but he was also sweet and protective of those around him. He lost his sister ten years ago and since then he’s been hell bent on getting justice for her. After his loss he threw himself into years of meaningless sex and drinking before finally pulling himself out of it. Now working at Corps Security, he left himself unattached and looking more for sex than a relationship. When he helps out his best friend Izzy and Axel by taking their baby Nate to the doctor, he ends up meeting Melissa. The attraction between the two is instant but Melissa is determined not to fall for a guy like Cage.
“She is a woman worth the trouble and if my gut is right, she could be the one to heal the wounds I have been carrying around for far too long.”
Melissa is a nurse and a pure firecracker. She was sassy and she is used to being independent. Like Cage, she has avoided most relationships. She lost her sister to domestic violence and that loss left her hurt and mistrusting of most men. She’s struggling to support her, her mom, and her nephew. She loves her nephew but she is also battling her sister’s in laws to get custody of him. She tried to avoid Cage but the two of them kept running into one another and it was hard to deny the chemistry that they shared.
The two of them together was pure fire and even though they fell for each other quick, it just seemed so right. What I loved about them was that their relationship was so much more than just the physical attraction; they really developed a bond. For the first time in long time Greg wanted so much more and despite her early reservations, Melissa wanted the same. Their relationship wasn’t without drama and Greg has a secret he was keeping from her. It was a secret that really stood the chance of ending their relationship. Plus add the drama of a crazy ex fling and custody drama and things were not easy for the two.
“You don’t have to be strong all the time. Let me take it, Beauty. Let me be your rock. Let ME fight. For Christ sake, let me be who you need.”
I definitely recommend this book, it was sweet, sexy, and it showed you how love can help you move on ad forgive. This book had a twist that I did not see coming and hurt my heart but Harper had me turning the pages to see how it would all end and it did have a great ending. I really enjoyed this book and I can not wait to read the rest of the series.
