Liam “Hunter” Blake hates the Reapers MC. Born and raised a Devil’s Jack, he knows his duty. He’ll defend his club from their oldest enemies—the Reapers—using whatever weapons he can find. But why use force when the Reapers’ president has a daughter who’s alone and vulnerable? Hunter has wanted her from the minute he saw her, and now he has an excuse to take her.

Em has lived her entire life in the shadow of the Reapers. Her overprotective father, Picnic, is the club’s president. The last time she had a boyfriend, Picnic shot him. Now the men in her life are far more interested in keeping her daddy happy than showing her a good time. Then she meets a handsome stranger—a man who isn't afraid to treat her like a real woman. One who isn't afraid of her father. His name is Liam, and he’s The One.

Or so she thinks.

Was a bit confused in the beginning because this story started about midway through the previous book, but seen through Emmy’s POV. Once I realized what was going on, because I’ve read so many other books since the previous Reapers book I kept thinking “Um, this kidnapping sounds familiar” until my lame ass was like, “Oh NOW I get it!” *hand slap to forehead!*

So back up a bit to see that Emmy has been chatting it up with someone named Liam online and via text. When she makes plans to finally meet him in person, she is ready to give up her V-card. Now, when you read that Emmy is 23 and STILL a virgin, you may be tempted to throw up your hands right then and say “Jesus, another one?!?” thinking you’re about to read about some innocent, meek, girl who daddy sheltered her whole life.

“Dad was well and truly cock-blocking me, and it was bullshit. Wait, did it count as cock-block if you didn’t have a cock?” – Em

Okay, well part of that is true. However, Emmy is far, far from the submissive heroine we have sadly grown accustomed to. She def has her naive moments where she is duped by Liam/Hunter, but throughout it all, she is strong, determined, and down right stubborn.

What Emmy doesn’t know going into this meeting with sweet Liam is that he also is known by the street name, Hunter, and he is part of The Devil’s Jack MC. That would be just fine if it weren’t for the fact that Emmy’s daddy is Picnic, president of The Reapers MC. Although currently both clubs are in a truce, others seem to be conspiring against both clubs turning them against one another leading all out MC war!

The sexual tension between Liam and Em was amazing. Even when things go wrong and Liam kidnaps Emmy, she still cannot keep herself away from him. They continue to have multiple racy and erotic episodes together without having actual sex. I had moments where I just wanted to yell “Oh just fuck already” at my kindle. *sigh*

I’ve read this entire series so far, and I truly feel like each installment just keeps getting better and better. If you enjoy a good MC book, Joanna Wylde is the author you need to watch.
