Hunter finally has MacKenzie Cahill, the girl of his dreams. A horrible accident finds those dreams threatened. As their lives change, secrets begin to surface. These revelations could prove to be either the downfall of Hunter and MacKenzie or the catalyst that strengthens their bond.
Hunter has painful choices to make. Will he realize what he has before it’s gone? He knows what he must do to save his future, but will he be leaving everyone else in his past?
Will the bond between the two families be strong enough to keep them together?
I seem to only write reviews when I am having fangirl moments lately 🙂 I spend the majority of my time behind the scenes but I got to read this one because I have been waiting impatiently for it. I got to read Trying Not To Love You as an ARC for another blog that I guest review on and fell in love with the main characters of Hunter and MacKenzie. Now everyone who knows me knows that I am your typical Jersey girl. I love my Jersey writers and have a soft spot for all books that take place in my state…hehe….sorry all other states. Megan Smith does not need my extra love but I will give it to her anyway.
Easy To Love You is book 2 in the “Love Series”and picks up where TNTLY ended. MacKenzie has just been in a major car accident and she 9 months pregnant with her and Hunter’s child. The stupid bitch Brittany….cause there is one in every good book….was the reason my poor MacKenzie is all messed up on the side of the road. She has some crazy idea in her head that MacKenzie is pregnant with her ex Dominic’s kid when she is not. I knew she was batshit in TNTLY but boy does Megan really open up can of worms with this bitch in Easy To Love You. Hunter and the rest of the family is just finding out about the accident because MacKenzie has not shown up to doctors appt.
In TNTLY you learn that nothing in Hunter and MacKenzie’s life comes easy by any means and Easy To Love You is no exception to that. A lot of the secrets in their lives come to light in this book and most of it will leave you staring at your Kindle going “Are you fucking kidding me right now?!?” If it wouldn’t spoil the book for you I would screenshot my messages with Megan as I was reading….lmao. They were kinda priceless 🙂
Hunter….oh Hunter *swoon*. I love Hunter. He is just sexy, sweet and can melt a Kindle like nobody can. I loved him in TNTLY and I fell even more in love with him this book.
I did not care what anyone thought or was going to say about us having a baby together so soon, or that she was too young. All that I cared about was this little man and my soon to be wife. A bond was created today, a bond so strong that we wouldn’t allow anyone to break it. Our little family is where our roots would take hold and we would grow. We were now molded into one, which would allow us to prepare for what the world would throw at us, and how we would deal with it.
How that guy can’t make you swoon I just don’t fucking know. The love he feels for MacKenzie is that love every girl wishes they could find in their life. That forever love. Love you never have to question and its beautiful.
The three of us cuddled together. We needed to smell her. To feel her breathe. To hold her. No matter what struggles lay before us, we would keep going, because we had the will and strength to overcome it all. No matter what was beyond our control, nothing could ever take away from the family bond we made right at that moment.
He made some mistakes in this book by keeping things from MacKenzie. He should not have done it but I understood where he was coming from and why he did it. Doesn’t make it right but I got it.
Poor MacKenzie goes through a lot this time around. Along with her major car accident and hard birth of her child. She finds out that a lot of what she held true about her family was not what it seemed. She has to work through a lot betrayals by the people she loves. I found her to be somewhat dramatic in how she handled her reactions at times but I got where she was coming from. I also had to take in her age. She is only 20 and given all the things thrown at her…she did pretty good.
Now my second favorite part of Megan’s writing and books are her supporting characters. I love Mason, Hailey, Cooper and every single person in this family. They make me laugh my ass off and make my heart melt with how much they love each other. They will protect each other until the death and its great to read.
I started laughing, “Hmm, well Coop, Hailey got her chocolate milk…” and Cooper finished my sentence, “and from the looks of it Mason’s dick too.” Hailey turned beet red, Mason was shooting daggers at us with his eyes while Cooper, Jackson and I, laughed our asses off.
In the end….Megan did a phenomenal job with the wrap up of Hunter and MacKenzie’s story. I stayed engaged the whole story, she had a good pace and threw you for some loops along the way. It’s sometimes hard to do a story justice with a second book but Megan Smith did a great job.
Luckily this not the end to the crew I love. Hard To Love is book 3. It will be Mason and Hailey’s story. Megan has told me that you will see Hunter and MacKenzie in future books. Woohoo!! I would expect nothing less though because they are such a tight knit group. Cooper and Jay (Hunter’s sister) will also be getting a book 🙂
You will find the Spotify playlist below. It is a must while reading Easy To Love You. She put the songs in order of chapter and every chapter is title to a song. My parting swoon quote….
After we’d completely exhausted each other, we lay there wrapped together, utterly spent. While we were enjoying the sounds of our breathing, our heartbeats, CC asked, “Why do you love me?” I gazed into her beautiful eyes and said the only thing that made sense, “Because it’s so easy to love you.
After that, Dominic ran into CC a few times at the grocery store; only once with Brittany though. She always told me after she’d seen them so I’d never think she was hiding things from me. I trusted her, but it did make me feel better knowing she told me these things.
She also said that the one time she did run into Brittany, she’d started up again; claiming that she knew the baby was Dominic’s. CC just brushed it off and ignored her which apparently pissed Brittany off even more, because she started to threaten to tell me the ‘truth’. CC said she’d just laughed and walked away. I loved her for that.
She was always being the better person; she didn’t let the damn drama get to her.
