I was tagged by Kayla from My Book Muse for the “Unpopular Opinion” book tag. I’m all over the place as a reader and I thought it would be a fun to do something a wee bit different from our normal posts.

I am basically tagging along for the ride. LOL. I don’t have any bloggy friends and am pretty much the silent partner of BCS. C says I need to be more vocal and interact more so I thought I would have some fun with Cezanne on this one. Thank you Kayla for tagging us 🙂 – Juliana

1.) A Popular Book/Series You Didn’t Like:

Consolation by Corinne Micheals: I wanted to like this book, I really really did. Hell, I even cried at the beginning but this book just wasn’t for me. It had all the right elements to be great but somewhere along the line it fell apart for me.

Thoughtless Series by SC Stephens: Oh Boy! I have tried to read this series like 4 times and everytime I end up stopping. I just can’t. Keira drives me crazy and it just kinda embodies all the things I hate in my characters and books. A whiney, indecisive heroine, love triangle plus a rockstar. I know. I know. Try not to throw things at me. Here is the funny thing. I LOVE SC Stephens as a writer. I think she is fantastic. Collision Course, sigh the feels, love that book. This series just was not for me 🙁

P.S this hurts C’s feelings….cause dude Kellan, coffee, and espresso stand!!! ~ C

2.) A Book Series That Everyone Hates, But You Love:

The Beautiful Creatures Series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl: This is probably one of my favorite YA series. I read book 1 for a book club discussion and I quickly fell for the story. I know the series is sort of meh to some readers but it was fabulous to me.

The Dark Duet Series by CJ Roberts: I do not think this series is so much one people hate but more you love it or you don’t. I think people also have tendency to judge you and your mental health if you love this series since the subject matter is so intense. I know many people that have found this series and its topic repulsive.

I on the other hand LOVE this series beyond words. I probably love Caleb more than is healthy but I am ok with that. I think it is a credit to Ms. Roberts and her writing that in this very dark and twisted world she managed to make Caleb redeemable and almost lovable in spite of the many unthinkable things to he did to poor Olivia.

3.) A Love Triangle Where the MC Ended Up With A Person You Didn’t Want Them To End Up With, Or An OTP You Didn’t Like:

The Avoiding Series by K.A. Linde: I agree with Kayla on this one. It’s not the fact that Lexi ended up with View Spoiler » that upset me but it was how. I really did like him in book 1. I rooted for him to get himself in order so that he and Lexi could have a chance, but he mucked it up. In book two I was happy when she ditched him and got with the other guy.  It all went to hell in the final book. I really disliked how it all played out and it made me dislike Lexi’s character and the series.

The Book Boyfriend Series by Erin Noelle: Sigh 🙁 I just did not love Mason as much as everyone else. I just did not. I mean I liked him a tad more by the end then the beginning but it still made me mad how some of the scenes played out cause of him. But I do love Ms. Noelle’s writing even if I wanted the MC to end up with the other guy. View Spoiler »

4.) A Popular Book Genre You Rarely Reach For:

Paranormal (Cezanne): Now don’t get me wrong, if a friend recommends one or I find a synopsis that catches my eye I will give it a try but other than that it’s not a genre I actively look seek out.

Young Adult (Juliana): I just don’t go for them. Its hard for me to relate to them. I have always been the atypical female even as teenager. I never understand the stupidity behind some these teenage characters.

5.) A Popular Beloved Character That You Didn’t Like:

Arsen by Mis Asher:  This is a book I love to hate and hate to love. The writing was phenomenal but Arsen the character got under my skin. I know many were #TeamArsen but he makes me feel all angry and stabby. This was basically my face thought the entire book:

REAL by Katy Evans: I know everyone loves this book and think Remy is a god among men. Me…not so much. I got it with his bipolar and all but still he did nothing for me. Sorry 🙁

6.) A Popular Author You Can’t Seem To Get Into:

Samantha Towle (Cezanne): I did read The Mighty Storm and I even liked Jake Weathers but that book was almost a DNF for me. I have tried to read another book from her but none of have peaked my interest again.

Teresa Mummert (Juliana): I have tried to read her on many occasions and sadly every time I have been left underwhelmed. I know many love her but she is just not for me.

7.) A Popular Trope You’re Tired Of Seeing:

This goes for both of us since neither can understand the fascination with STEPBROTHERS!!!  Its just everywhere lately. Like everyone has this need to have sex with sibling through marriage. No! NO! JUST NO! Please for the love of sweet baby jeebus no more. NO MORE. It’s not taboo anymore if it’s everywhere.

Just rule of thumb for Julie: If when I introduce you to someone and I preface it with “This is my STEPBROTHER so and so” I no longer have any need to see you naked…just my opinion.

8.) A Popular Series You Have No Interest In Reading:

Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R Ward: **ducks head*** Don’t hurt me. My mom is a fan and so are many of my friends but they hold no real interest to me. Out of peer pressure I attempted to read Dark Lover, but I was bored after a few pages. I’m sure Ms. Ward’s writing is fantastic but I not really interested.

The Beautiful Series and Maddox Brother Series by Jamie McGuire: Yes I read Beautiful Disaster and I really enjoyed it. I loved Travis just like everyone else. Then I read Walking Disaster and it all fell apart. I heard from some trusted people that Beautiful Wedding would just piss me off. So yeah, I have sadly decided that maybe this series began and ended with Beautiful Disaster for me. There are other reasons why I have decided to not read Ms. McGuire but that is for another time and blog post.

9.) The Saying Goes “THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE MOVIE,” But What Movie/Show Adaptation Do You Prefer More Than The Book?

The Secret Garden byFrances Hodgson Burnett: I read The Secret Garden when I was really young but I fell in love with the movie. I watched it constantly on end. There is just something about this movie that just stuck with me. Sigh <3

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott: I read the book when I was like 12. It was one of my first real book loves but I still find the movie so much better. Still one of my faves and I watch it every Christmas time.

Just had to comment to say that I to have had a hard time trying to read the Thoughtless series. I made it through the first book but have yet to read the other two, mainly because Kiera…..JUST CAN’T LIKE HER!!

  2. Gah! I’ve been tagged twice! I need to get crack-a-lacking. 🙂 I was going to say, “I didn’t know everyone hated Captive in the Dark” and then I read your description. You’re right, people either love that one or you hate it. I haven’t read a lot of these on your list, like Arsen or Real. Arsen, I have but haven’t gotten to and Real, I don’t think that book would be for me.

Thanks for the tag! I’ll let you two know when I post!

    • Lol get on it Megan. I’m anxious to see your list. As much as I love Captive, I truly understand how other’s don’t. I think you would like the Mia Asher’s writing but the story really does rile people up.
